I was born and raised in Clifton, NJ.
Later I lived in Hoboken, NJ, the birthplace
of Frank Sinatra. Hoboken's a fun place -- one square mile of Italian restaurants,
Irish pubs and beautiful views of the Manhattan skyline (at least that's
my recollection). In 1994, I moved to Boulder Colorado, where I've been
living ever since. For links to great restaurants the Boulder, check
out The
Boulder Guide. |
Some of my interests include:
- Photos:
- I'm a big jazz fan. Public radio is about the only place to hear jazz. Support your local public radio station!
- My wife and I really enjoy SCUBA diving, though
living in Colorado does not afford us the opportunity to dive nearly as much
skiing and hiking. Here are some links to places we have dove:
-
Maui, HI, USA - We dove with and highly recommend Mike
Severns Diving. The owner, Pauline Fiene, is the best dive master
we've ever dove with. She is a researcher who has studied
Hawaiian marine life marine for many years. I think this was the first
place I saw a Slipper
Lobster. It looked so bizarre at the time that I felt like I was
on another planet. Here are some highlights
from our dives.
- Grand Cayman,
BWI -
Best diving, but very expensive food and taxi (bring your own food if you
can). There were great shore dives here. Some of them were very shallow
so our dives lasted over an hour. We saw more Eagle Rays and Sea Turtles
here then on all other trips combined If you go diving here, you should
check out Sting Ray City. You can hand feed wild Sting Rays. It's quite
an experience.
- Lighthouse
Reef, Belize - This place is a great getaway. There were only
twelve guest on the island. You could circumnavigate the island on
foot in about 30 min. There's nothing to do but dive and relax. It's
wonderful! The dive operation is the best we've ever seen.
- Cozumel, Mexico - Great diving. Beautiful reef. Lots of drift dives.
- Turks & Caico (see Club Med) - We arrived here shortly after a tropical storm so the visibility wasn't that great in the beginning of the week, but it became progressively better as the week went on.
- St. Lucia (see Sandals)
- St. Lucia is beautiful, but the dive operation at Sandals was pretty
poor. On one dive they ran out of weights so they they had us put rocks
in our pockets. It's a good thing that we didn't have to dump our weight
in an emergency!
On a more positive note, this was our honeymoon so luckily diving was not the focus of this trip. St. Lucia is largely undeveloped, so we were able to go hiking in a relatively pristine rain forest.
- Sonora Bay, Mexico (see Club Med) - This was my first diving experience. I saw a Manta Ray and remembered thinking that I would be likely to see Mantas on all my dives. Well, that was the first and last time for the Manta sighting.
- I also like practicing mindfulness meditation and yoga. If you would like
some information on activities in Boulder, see the Insight
Meditation Community of Colorado website.
