Activity Sheet for the Grape Boycott Simulation

Directions

Use about 45 minutes to do the activities and answer the questions below.

Launch the Internet Explorer Web browser found on the desktop and go to the Grape Boycott Project found in the "Favorites" menu (if not there, you can open it manually: http://www.cs.colorado.edu/~l3d/systems/agentsheets/New-Vista/Boycott-Project.html).

Run the Grape Boycott simulation. Directions on how to do this can be found on the Web pages. Be sure to run the simulation until it gets to the point where the boycott takes place. Then, explore the Web page with the related links and answer the following questions.

Further Activities

Launch the AgentSheets application found on the desktop. Using the File menu -> Open Project option, open the Boycott Project.

1. Run the Boycott Town worksheet that is on your screen, which includes a Reporter agent. Pay attention to what the reporter is saying. Again, be sure to run the simulation to the point that the boycott takes place. Then go back and review your previous answers, if needed. Make any changes in a different color of ink or pencil.

2. Close the "Boycott Town" worksheet and reopen it (File->Open Worksheet). Delete the Cesar Chavez agent (using the "Eraser Tool" ). Run the simulation again. What do you observe?
 

  

 

 

 

3. Close and reopen the "Boycott Town" worksheet, delete the Representatives from the fields and run the simulation again. What do you observe?
