Interaction Techniques - Placing Buildings
EDC applications utilize a physical "language" of pieces with associated computational representations. In the Bus Stop, a language of colored blocks represent elements important to land use and transportation, such as residences, schools, roads, busses, cars, and bus stops.
Users begin constructing a neighborhood by placing homes, schools, parks, shopping centers, and other pieces. The touch sensitive tablet helps the computer determine the objects placed by the users.
As the objects are placed, the system creates a computer representation based on the object placements. These elements will then be used to simulate the constructed environment.
