Project Summary

As computers become more and more tightly woven into myriad professional activities, the tension between useful and usable computer systems intensifies. Most existing computational systems and particularly most human computer interaction (HCI) research efforts reflect an implicit belief that there is an inevitable design tradeoff between the notions of usefulness and usability. This research is directed toward changing this "versus" relationship into a cooperative "and" relationship.
