Brent Reeves

Students working hard
Cheaters always loom nearby
Will justice prevail?

Abstract

Given just a few false assumptions, my talk will go much better. So...

Assumptions

  1. Undergraduate education will always have
    structured, canned homework assignments.
  2. Human nature will always ensure some students will cheat.

Surprises

  1. I've discovered a way to know for certain that assignment A was issued to student Blee, but copied, altered, and turned in by student Blah.
  2. I've also discovered a way to know that student Blah opened student Blee's document and did a copy-and-paste into their own document.

Results

I will talk about the use of this system over the last two semesters in several undergraduate sections of Economics.

So... please come challenge these assumptions and share your thoughts about self-tracking documents (tm). :-)

Bio

Because the mountains of Colorado interfered with the view, Brent Reeves moved to West Texas, where he teaches Management Information Systems at Abilene Christian University. He now has unobstructed views of, well, pretty much everything.
