A mobile sensor platform for indoor location-aware services and navigation
(download slides)

Abstract

Indoor location-aware and navigational services require signal
transmitters and sensors to support the computation of indoor locations from
known fixed points. Ryan Patterson will demonstrate a prototype ultrasonic
transmitter and receiver system that is designed to emit, filter, and
amplify weakly detected signals resulting in signal propagation over greater
ranges than could normally be achieved using handheld power sources.

This demonstration will be grounded in a discussion about how the prototype
technology will be used in a handheld PDA and integrated with the MANTIS
sensor network project to support indoor navigation and location services.
