Real-Time Medical Graphics to Diagnose Coronary
Heart Disease
Abstract
The condition of coronary arteries decides
on the therapy of patients suffering coronary heart disease, a number one killer
in the western world. CT and PET technology combined with real-time 3d graphics
offer non-invasive ways to diagnose the state of these arteries. In my talk I
will portray such a 3d graphics environments developed at the University of Paderborn,
implemented on modern graphics cards, and used at a Heart and Diabetes Center
in Germany. I will also talk about challenges in the education of our Bachelor
and Master students, in order for them to be able to tackle such complex, real
world problems.
