Designing the Information Society of

  About this course

This course explores how new media will impact learning, thinking, designing and collaborating in the information society of the next millennium. Likewise, it looks at how the media itself will be shaped through use by professionals and citizens.

The course aims at creating an understanding that at present there is really no consensus as to how technological innovations in information and communications will affect the shape of cultures and society in the future. The pursuits of this courses are by nature interdisciplinary.

In this course, students will have the opportunity to utilize innovative web-technologies (based on DynaSites substrate) which allow them to associate information in new ways, and access them from different perspectives, in order to construct new understanding regarding class materials. Technologies, such as the following, will be used:

  Example Projects

One of the highlights in this course is a large, iterdisciplinary, team final project. Students do an in-depth exploration of some issue in the course that they find personally meaningful.
