GRADING POLICY
Based on our discussion in class (Monday, Sept 15)
and on our statement on the course syllabus, the following grading
policy will be used for this course .
Grades will be based on:
- an active and meaningful participation in class
- this will be measured primarily by the quality of the contributions,
not by the quantity (obviously zero quantity does not indicate
any quality)
- contributions to any other course activities
which lead to the attainment of an enriched learning experience
in the course, such as
- small assignments,
- preparation for the class debate,
- interesting, unsolicited contributions of relevance
to the class
- the quality of the process and outcomes of the
semester project, and
- a self-assessment of the student provided to
the instructors at the end of the course.
Weight distribution
- contributions of relevance (i.e. as mentioned
in (1) and (2) above) 40 percent
- semester project 30 percent
- self-assessment 30 percent
Please: in case you have
objections and/or suggestions to these grading policies
- let us know by e-mail or
- bring it up next time in class
